Mahalsa Temple Mardol Ponda

The Mahalsa Narayani temple is situated in the small village of Mardol, Originally, the deity resided in a temple in the ancient Verna village, which is now an industrial estate. The Portuguese planned to destroy this beautiful Verna temple around 1543, along with other Goan temples. However, before the demolition occurred, devoted followers safely transported the deity’s idol across the river to Mardol, where the temple stands today. Mahalsa is a Hindu goddess, specifically known as Mahalasa Narayani.
